A motivational story about a farmer’s lazy sons who learn the value of hard work and responsibility after facing the consequences of their actions.
Farmer's lazy son | Motivational Story in English: A farmer named Muralidhar lived with his family in a village. He had two sons Adarsh and Krishna in his family. Muralidhar worked very hard. But both his sons were very lazy.
Muralidhar was very upset with this habit of his sons. One day he said to his wife Vibha, "Both our sons just lie around at home. Will they ever do any work or not?"
Vibha said sadly, "You are talking about work. Apart from eating, he does not even get up and sit. He remains sleeping on the bed throughout the day."
Murlidhar used to leave for the farm early in the morning. One day he thought why not I pretend to be sick and stay at home and send my sons to the farm. Thinking this, he pretended to have a stomachache and said to his two sons – "Sons, I am not feeling well today and it is very important to harvest the fields, you both go to the farm today and do the harvesting work."
Hearing this, Aadarsh said, "Father, don't worry, we both will go and start harvesting right now."
Muralidhar was very happy, he quickly explained the work to his sons and sent them to the farm.
After their departure, Murlidhar said to his wife Vibha - "You keep calling them lazy for no reason. Look, today both my sons will go and harvest the fields and work hard."
Hearing this, Vibha started laughing, then she stopped laughing and said – "I know my sons more than you. You go and see tomorrow, they will not cut even a straw."
Hearing this, Murlidhar said – "Let's find out tomorrow. Are they both lazy or hardworking?"
In the evening both the sons return. Muralidhar asks them "Son, how much work was done on the farm?"
This time Krishna replies, "Father, you were getting worried for no reason. I cleared the whole field in just one day."
Muralidhar looked at Vibha and said, "See how hardworking my sons are. You doubt them for no reason."
On this Vibha said, "I will believe what I see with my own eyes."
The next day Murlidhar reaches the farm. His entire field had been harvested. He was very happy and said to his two sons – "You have done a great job. But how did you do so much work in just one day? It would have taken at least ten days."
Then Aadarsh said, "Father, we called the villagers from nearby villages and told them to cut the entire field in one day. They cut the entire field in one day. We slept there under the tree."
Murlidhar said, "What happened to the crops?"
Then Krishna said, "The villagers took whatever was harvested from them, so much so that some villagers even left the bundles of the crop at home and came back to harvest again. In no time, the entire field was harvested."
Hearing this, Murlidhar held his head and said, "Oh God, you both have wasted the hard work of the whole year in one day. You both should have stayed at home."
Seeing this, Vibha said, "Now how will we sustain ourselves for the whole year? These fools have left us in a bad state."
Muralidhar could not understand what to do and he returned home disappointed.
Adarsh came home and said, "Father, you told us to harvest the field, you did not tell us to bring the crop home. Anyway, we cannot work so hard."
The next day Murlidhar said, "You both have to leave this house. I cannot bear your burden anymore. My wife and I will somehow manage. Let's get out of here."
Murlidhar throws both his sons out of the house. Both of them wander around the village hungry and thirsty the whole day. By evening they become very hungry. Somehow they spend the night under a tree.
The next day both of them reach a moneylender's field.
Aadarsh says to the merchant, "Seth, just give us something to eat and in return we will do whatever work you ask us to do."
The merchant gives them food. In return, he makes them work as laborers the whole day.
In the evening both of them come under the same tree.
Krishna tells Aadarsh, "If we had supported our parents, we would not have to see all this today and our parents would also not be dying of hunger because of us."
Then Aadarsh says - "Yes brother, you are right. Let us work as labourers in the fields of the merchant during the day and work on our own fields at night. We will grow crops by working hard."
Both the brothers work hard day and night. Murlidhar gets a job at a businessman's shop and is somehow managing to survive on a low salary.
Meanwhile, a competition is held in the village. In which a prize was to be given for the best crop. Murlidhar also reaches to watch the competition. When the prize is announced, Murlidhar gets the first prize. Seeing this he says – If you made a mistake, my crop has already been ruined.
Then the village landlord says, "Murli bhai, this miracle has been done by your two sons. Both of them have created a new record by working hard day and night and growing crops in a very short time."
Then both his sons stand before him.
Aadarsh and Krishna hold his feet – “Father, please forgive us. We realized our mistake as soon as we left home. That is why we have grown this crop by working hard.”
Tears were flowing from Murlidhar's eyes. After that day, all three father and sons started working hard.
